Offset Elliptical Normal Parameters for Wind Climate of USA Prescribed Burning Locations

The dataset presents parameters of the Offset Elliptical Normal model for wind climate analysis. Parameters have been obtained for sites across the USA where prescribed burning is common, using data from the National Centers for Ecological Information and carrying out the analyses with software from Nicholas Cook (njcook.uk). The parameters may be used to randomly select correlated wind speed and direction values from any of the major winds ('parent winds') that characterize a site, which is valuable for prescribed burn planning involving fire behavior modeling. The parameters are also used to generate graphical depictions of wind climate for educating wildland fire personnel
